As a new emerging Artist in Scotland,she was delighted to have been chosen as prize winner of Gordon Smith award for New Contemporary Art at Royal Scottish Academy,Edinburgh exhibition 2019.
McKay has been described as an "Pervasive Enigma" .
She is a storyteller of conflict,conformity,religion,law,politics, slavery,sexuality and survival including music and dance.
Recent works depict surrealities of life,people and situations. After extensive global travel ,much self reflection,observation and poignant conversations shared with the artist around many tables . It is the translation of spoken work into art form highlighting personality,behaviours according to deep conditioning.
The aim is for the viewer to interpret and decide what depth or stories lie beneath the characters.
