Avi Lev Art and more

Avi Lev

Avi Lev was born Adam Lew in a village in the south of Poland. In 1959 he emigrated with his father to Israel, where he grew up in kibbutz Ein Harod Meuhad. After school, he took painting lessons at the nearby arts center in Mizra. He befriended the well-known Polish-Israeli artist Moshe Berenstein (1920 - 2006). They also drew portraits of each other.

After his military service, Lev went on a three-year study trip through Europe and Asia. During his stay in the Netherlands he learned etching techniques from Kees de Kort at Artibus. Back in Israel, he studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. In 1983 he settled in the Netherlands.

In 2009 he was commissioned by the Delft - Kfar Saba Foundation to make two paintings for Bas Verkerk, mayor of Delft and Yehuda Ben Hamu, mayor of Delft's twin city of Kfar Saba, Israel. In March 2011, in the Kadmium arts center in Delft, he won first prize (with no experience in that field) in a body painting competition, part of an exhibition and won first price.

His art on this platform is of more recent work. Enjoy it
